Detroit Noir:
Black and White Photography Competition

If you are a Detroit photographer, Jo’s Gallery is looking for you! Detroit Noir: Black and White will be a showcase of photography of all themes to be featured in our gallery for the month of August. Photographers must be from the greater Detroit area. We will only consider black and white photography. No colored photos accepted. Ages 18 and up can submit work.

Jeff Jancelosi
Portrait Photographer
Artist/photographer/curator Jeff Cancelosi has been making art all his life. His work addresses the passage of time through materials, methods and subjects. His pieces have been juried into shows by such artists and curators as Jim Dine, Susan Goethel Campbell, Mel Chin, Carter Foster, Charles McGee, and Andres Serrano. Mr. Cancelosi is currently head of the Exhibitions Committee and a board member at the Detroit Artists Market. He holds degrees in design and photography and is well-known throughout the Detroit area for his photographic portraits of the arts community in southeast Michigan.

Laura D. Gibson is the current Gallery Assistant for Jo's Gallery, a gradate student currently enrolled at Cranbrook Academy of Art receiving her Masters in Fine Arts of Photography. She a local curator, and director of Chiliad Creatives, an organization that creates curatorial projects, art education programming, and community outreach within the city of Detroit.

Selected photographs will be showcased in Jo’s Gallery Cafe. Opening reception will be Saturday, September 28th.
Selected artists will be notified by: August 19th and must bring in work by August 23rd. Opening reception will be
September 28th. The selected winners will be announced opening night.
