Beauty4Ashes: Something beautiful born from the ashes of sorrow. Lynette creates affordable, handcrafted jewelry with each piece designed to be one-of-a-kind. She achieves this by using semi-precious gemstones, handmade beads, and other unique natural elements. She often uses vintage components and combines them with new materials to form a cohesive piece where one cannot distinguish the old from the new. She has discovered how jewelry can accent the beauty that already exists in our soul. Lynette hopes women and men can enjoy wearing these pieces as much as she enjoys creating them.
Adwoa Muwzea identifies as a self-taught, Abstract Expressionist Artist from Detroit. She uses acrylic inks, oil pastels and collage on fine watercolor papers. She says, “My work has emotional energy, but it also has cultural relevance. I’ve studied African history, culture and religion. Icons from my investigations appear in my work.”
Dianetta Dye is a Detroit native and Wayne State graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Art in Printmaking and Mixed Media. Dye’s works have been featured in the Charles H. Wright Museum of, Cranbrook Art Museum, MOCAD, the California African American Museum (Los Angeles), the National Center of Afro-American Artists (Roxbury, MA), and The Du Sable Museum (Chicago).
Her most recent works include mixed media collage and doll making. Her works intend to explore the connections to ancestors, an affinity to the Hue-man Condition, and desire to promote Good JuJu.
“I have always wanted to be an artist. Messing around with random objects and mediums seeing what would turn up is an exercise that continues to bring me great joy. I realized I was a maker early on in my life and have always nurtured my abilities with little restriction."
